What is a mystery driftwood box?
A mystery driftwood box is a box of aquarium driftwood where you pick the size and the seller picks the pieces. Ours is packed with natural bonsai-style driftwood trees from our remaining stock. You won't know the exact shapes until you open it.
Every box is part of our final inventory clearance. Once the remaining boxes sell, they're gone.

Tree counts are estimates, not guarantees. Larger trees take up more room, so a box with bigger trees has fewer pieces. Box sizes are listed where we publish them; we don't list tree heights, because every tree is different.

What the trees look like
The trees are natural bonsai-style driftwood: branching, tree-shaped pieces made for aquascapes. Colors, trunk shapes, and branch density vary from tree to tree. Product photos and the images on this page are samples. They show the style of trees we pack, not the exact trees you'll get.
How random is random?
Fully random. You choose the box size, and we pack the trees. We can't take requests for specific shapes, sizes, or colors, and two boxes of the same size will look different. If you order the 2x Medium bundle, each Medium box is packed separately, so the two won't match.
Can anything arrive broken?
Yes, it can. Natural driftwood is fragile, and small tips or branches may break in shipping. Many aquascapers trim or hide small breaks, or use broken tips for moss or shrimp hides. Every box is sold as-is and is final sale, with no returns or exchanges.
What to do when your box arrives
Natural driftwood may release tannins. We recommend rinsing, soaking, or boiling when possible before adding driftwood to an aquarium, using clean water only (no soap, bleach, or chemicals). Driftwood may float until it absorbs enough water; there is no fixed timeline.
Tannins can tint the water tea-colored; regular water changes reduce the tint. Our guide on how to prepare aquarium driftwood covers each step.
Is a mystery box OK for betta and shrimp tanks?
Yes, once the wood is prepared as above (see the preparation guide). The Mini and Small boxes are the usual sizes for these tanks. For bettas, smooth any sharp tips that could snag long fins. For shrimp, add new wood to an established tank and watch your shrimp afterward. Shrimp often graze on the biofilm that grows on driftwood.
Shipping and order cutoff
Boxes ship every Wednesday from Texas to the Lower 48 US states + DC. We don't ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, or outside the US. If you place your order before Wednesday's shipping cutoff, your box ships that Wednesday. Orders placed after the cutoff ship the following Wednesday. Shipping is free on the Mini, Large, 2x Medium, and DIY boxes; it's $9.99 on the Small and $12.99 on the Medium.
